Georgia

by Karen Frederick

At the recent 26th Running of the American Sighthound Field Association International Invitational (II) lure coursing trial, held in Falcon, Colorado, history was made when an Irish Wolfhound took the honors as the best on the fields that weekend. Other Wolfhounds have been close in the past but it wss Georgia, Bilbernie Karontara Georgia, FCh, that broke through to win the highest honor in ASFA lure coursing on June 1st. Georgia is owned by Karon Volk.

Georgia had competed both days against 10 Wolfhounds and took the Best of Breed both days as well. That gave her an opportunity to compete in the Best in II, held at the conclusion of the coursing on Sunday. A total of nineteen sighthound breeds competed over a longer and new course plan and Georgia's draw was with a Whippet and Saluki. The judges, Elaine McMichael of Florida and Tom Robinson of Vancouver, were able to pick Georgia as the winner after a single course, not requiring a run off with any of the other hounds.

Congratulations, Georgia, for representing the Wolfhound breed so well at such a big event.
