Greyhounds have excessive post-operative bleeding from early breakdown of blood clots. This may happen in all running sighthounds. There are anecdotal reports of IWs bleeding after successful recovery from surgery but the incidence is not known. The loss of a hound to this potentially treatable postop bleeding is tragic.
